Kevin Newton began racing Quarter Midgets in 1990 when his middle school friend Gregg Dillion invited him to one of his races. Newton was hooked then and asked his dad to buy him a car. Racing in the local Terre Haute quarter midget series became a fun father/son activity for the Newtons. Kevin progressed steadily through the racing ranks winning a NAMRS midget championship in 1999 and moving on to race winged sprint cars on pavement and a handful on non-wing USAC sprint car events.
In 2000 Kevin made the choice to focus on building a business that would help his family thrive for generations to come. This led to him building the brand we all know today as Honest Abe Roofing.
Newton's return to the racing scene is similar to the initial start of his curiosity of the sport; however, this time, it was Gregg Dillion's son who invited Kevin to the race track to watch. Hopping into young Carson Dillion's 305 winged sprint car at Lincoln Park Speedway had Kevin hooked on racing once again.
Currently, the team owns and operates three 410 winged sprint cars and one non-wing sprint car with Newton as a primary driver. Kevin will compete in various events in the 2024 racing season with the hopes of making a World of Outlaw feature after having 23 years out of the seat.

Bob Burkle went to the same schools as Kevin Newton being a Terre Haute local and got his start in racing at an older age. Bob jumped straight into 410 winged sprint cars at the age of 19 totally bypassing the typical track that young racers take to get to that level. This fact alone shows Bob's absolute love for the sport. At the age of 19 he was able to own a sprint car and he did everything it took to make it to the races on the weekends. While his career as a driver was short (1996-2001) his involvement in the sport continued to this day.
Burkle worked for racing names such as Brady Short, Scott Benic with Levi Jones, and the Norris'. Now employed full time by 2nd Law Motorsports Bob has many hats. To say he's just the crew chief wouldn't accurately describe all that he does for the race team. In addition to being the crew chief for Kevin Newton he also manages every fine detail at the shop. Heads up service and maintenance and gets the cars to and from each race event. Bob is an integral part of 2nd Law Motorsports.
